My name Theresa and this is my first time in Haiti and
following is a story about “Crazy Americans.”
Our journey began today with a trip to Hinche and the group
decided to visit the Cathedral.
Regrettably the gate to the Cathedral was locked. Disappointed we walked around Hinche and
passing by the Cathedral on our return to the Rectory, we noticed the
Cathedral’s gate was unlocked and open.
We seized the opportunity and entered.
The interior was simple but beautiful.
After taking pictures and spending a few moments in prayer, we
exited. To our surprise the gate was
locked and in walking the perimeter found no other exit or anyone to assist
us. Finally, after knocking on a door
someone answered and seemed perturbed to find us in our predicament but he did
unlock the back gate and freed us. He
probably thought “those crazy Americans”.
I guess no trip should be without at least one misadventure.
